INTRODUCTION
Our SMS professionals serve as ambassadors for our certification program here at NISM. Not only are they knowledgeable about our curriculum, they also share our passion for social media. Best of all, their stories help shape our organization and the work that we do here.
In our “Meet and Greet,” series, we introduce you to one of our SMS professionals and share their story. It is our hope that by sharing these stories, not only will you learn more about others who share your passion for being an SMS professional, but you will also want to connect with them further. We encourage you to “meet” this featured individual by connecting with them through your favorite social media platform or comment in the section below this article.
And with that, we’d like to introduce you to Mordecai Holtz and his story.
Hi Mordecai! Tell us a little about yourself and the work that you do.
I am the Co-Founder and Chief Digital Strategist at Blue Thread Marketing, a boutique digital agency based in Israel, which works with brands across 8 countries. I work with brands on all aspects of digital marketing from content, strategy, search, to implementation.
We always enjoy highlighting our international SMS professionals! What is your favorite social media platform and why?
Twitter because the conversations are fast, the opportunities to connect with global leaders and there is a great sense of interesting content.
Can you give an example of how SMS certification helps with your job?
It allows me to work with brands in a systematic manner with brands that range from startups to cities. Each of them is at a different stage of their digital marketing efforts, but the certification allows me to integrate the lessons and approach each one at their stage.
That’s wonderful that you can integrate what you’ve learned with the varied brands that you work with. What advice do you have for someone who may be considering SMS certification?
Take the time to learn the process and approach. It is a true added value when working with clients or within a brand. The organized manner of digital alleviates the hard work.
In addition to the SMS Community, you are also a member of the NISM Advisory Committee. What do you like about being able to serve on the advisory committee?
Serving on the advisory committee has enabled me to be part of a global effort to create a ‘gold standard’ for the digital marketing landscape. Working with such high-level practitioners and knowing that there are people who are passionate about creating a future of professionals that adhere to a standard, excites me.
You mentioned working with high-level practitioners, since you have had the opportunity to engage with and work with different groups within the NISM community, what stands out to you most about these individuals?
This group of professionals brings a diverse set of experiences across many verticals that allows for a comprehensive and strategic effort to train others.
It has been fun to watch you online, as you travel about the world speaking and sharing your knowledge and expertise with conference attendees. What event has been the most fun this year, and why?
The most fun event for me has been Engage Prague. It is a top-tiered event that encompasses all aspects of social media and digital. Highly recommended for anyone looking to learn, interact and grow.
