Description
Social Media Strategists (SMS) are required to keep up with the ever changing requirements and advances in the field by completing twenty (20) hours of continuing education for re-certification before the end of their two-year certification period.
The following is a list of steps that must be taken to maintain your SMS certification:
1) Complete 20 hours of continuing education during your two-year certification period; maintain your own records of continuing education units during your two-year certification period and work with the NISM learning team to ensure you are on track. You can also obtain these hours through specific NISM CE training courses found HERE.
2) Complete the re-certification application and submit your $135 re-certification fee.
3) After processing, you will receive a new SMS certificate in approximately 2 to 4 weeks. If your application is returned for corrections, this will delay the re-certification process. Please note: A certain number of SMS’ are randomly chosen for an audit of continuing education. If you are audited, you will receive notification from NISM of next steps.
