Corporate Communications & Events is a shared service supporting VGM Group. This team provides marketing, branding, communications and events support to more than 20 VGM business units and 1600+ employee owners across 5 locations and 40 states.
Position Summary
The Social Media Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining VGM Group social media presence. In this role, the coordinator will oversee social media channels to increase our online presence and improve our branding, marketing, and communication efforts. As a member of the Corporate Communications & Events team, this role will ensure that our social media content is aligned with our overall marketing and communications strategy.
The ideal candidate will have experience researching marketing trends, posting content on relevant platforms, and the ability to encourage engagement with VGM Group. We are seeking an agile, creative, self-starter with a passion for social media and a willingness to create and curate content for all VGM Group corporate social media channels.
Reports to: Director of Corporate Communications & Events
Hours: Full-Time, Monday – Friday 8-5 PM with additional hours as needed
Working Location: VGM main campus in Waterloo, IA with possibility for remote work 1 day a week after training and onboarding
Responsibilities/Duties of the Job
- Participate in the development, implementation, and management of VGM Group’s social media strategy.
- Create and curate engaging content for all social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube and more.
- Monitor user engagement and suggest content optimization.
- Collaborate with other teams, events, outbound communications, account management, designers, and writers to ensure brand consistency.
- Engage with followers, respond to queries in a timely manner, and monitor customer reviews.
- Oversee social media accounts’ design (e.g., Facebook timeline cover, profile pictures, and blog layout).
- Review analytics, create reports, suggest and implement new features to develop brand awareness and improve overall engagement of social channels.
- Stay up to date with current technologies and trends in social media, design tools, video tools, and social platforms.
- Willingness to continue learning about VGM Group’s corporate culture and become a social influencer at VGM.
- Other duties as assigned to support business objectives.
Position Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Proven work experience as a Social Media Coordinator or similar role.
- Excellent knowledge of social platforms and social media best practices.
- Understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience with doing audience and persona research.
- Familiarity with design, video, and publishing to support visually appealing and engaging social media content.
- Ability to interpret social media analytics to measure campaign performance and make data-driven decisions
- Effectively managing multiple social media platforms, scheduling posts, and maintaining a content calendar
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for social media posting schedules
- Understanding of overall marketing goals and how social media can contribute to achieving them
- Basic understanding of search engine optimization to improve visibility of social media content
Physical Requirements
- Operation of office equipment and using technology efficiently such as computers, phones, misc. office equipment
- Visual abilities to include reading, distance vision and peripheral vision
