WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE JOB:
As a part of the national Social Engagement team, the Community Manager oversees community engagement and social media customer care for the national American Red Cross social media accounts. This is a vital role in our continued efforts to connect and build relationships with our social media audience. Responsibilities include responding to comments, monitoring conversations, securing user-generated content, supporting influencer campaigns, and fostering relationships with key social media communities.
Ideal candidate: We seek candidates with a background in social media analysis, strong written communication skills, the ability to respond thoughtfully during crises, and experience developing engaging content based on community questions and trends. Candidates should have great customer service skills and be able to analyze social media conversation trends and sentiment. Proficiency in Spanish is preferred, but not a requirement.
 

The work location for this exciting opportunity is virtual. The selected candidate will work 100% remotely from home and can be located anywhere in the United States with a preference to work East Coast hours. 

 

This position may also require working extended hours to support a major disaster, especially during Hurricane season.

 

 

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):
•    Develop strategies to grow our social media community and increase brand awareness.
•    Respond to comments and mentions from the national American Red Cross social media accounts in a timely manner, and proactively seek content and relevant communities for our brand to interact with.
•    Use Brandwatch to monitor conversations and provide feedback on sentiment and trends. Other listening tactics and tools, like Sprout Social, are also used by the team.
•    Advise internal partners on social media response strategies during crises.
•    Actively search for and re-purpose user-generated content, and provide content ideas based on audience feedback, sentiment, and trends.
•    Collaborate with internal lines of service and business units on strategies to build or tap into online communities around key areas of interest.
•    Manage social media volunteers and the American Red Cross Volunteers group on Facebook.
•    Manage our social customer care response library, updating it as needed during major disasters or events.
•    Provide support for influencer campaigns, including vetting content creators, providing feedback on content, and monitoring conversations after content is published.

 

Scope: Individual contributor that works under limited supervision. Apply subject matter knowledge. Capacity to understand specific needs or requirements to apply skills/knowledge.

 

Qualified candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.  The American Red Cross does not sponsor employment visas.

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (required/minimum qualifications):
•    Minimum five years of social media community management including social media conversation analysis and customer care on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok and YouTube.
•    Experience building or leading online communities is essential.
•    Ability to expertly monitor, analyze, and report on social media conversations. Experience using Brandwatch and Sprout Social is highly preferred.
•    Comfortable working with and managing volunteers. Will manage team of 10 digital volunteers.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
•    High cultural awareness regarding political and social events that could impact content and user response.
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or another related field.

 

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU A COMPETITIVE EDGE (preferred qualifications):
•    Strong preference for candidates who speak Spanish.

PAY INFORMATION:
The starting annual salary range for this position is $70K – $80K. We do not offer an annual bonus for this role.

Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. **We will review specific salary information at the time of phone screening based upon your location & experience.**

This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded.
