Title: Executive Digital Strategist

Salary range: $90,000-$100,000
New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) is seeking its first-ever Executive Digital Strategist to join the Office of the President as an executive staff member. This individual will create, execute, and track original social media content on behalf of the President of the organization, and be responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the organizational priorities and messaging. The Executive Digital Strategist will travel with and report to the President.
Candidates should be based within commuting distance of Latham, NY or be willing to relocate.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and implement actionable goals, messaging, and strategies for all social platforms, to attract and expand the NYSUT President’s target reach and impact.
- Create and post daily social media content for the NYSUT President on various platforms to maximally amplify messaging and enhance the President’s social media presence.
- Travel alongside the NYSUT President, attending events, rallies, and meetings, to promote the President’s work. Efficiently capture names, titles, and contact information, employing innovative methods like QR codes and text-to-join systems when appropriate.
- Capture compelling video clips and photos and turn them into engaging social media content for immediate dissemination.
- Collaborate with key staff and other NYSUT departments to develop systems that turn interest from the President’s media presence into sustained engagement and impact for NYSUT.
- Work with the President’s office to support travel preparation and logistics and to maximize efficiency.
- Track social media engagement and share findings with the NYSUT President and other staff.
- Suggest and use effective tools and technologies that will advance the NYSUT President’s digital goals.
Required Qualifications
- Digital Expertise: Experience with digital organizing and key social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram, and X. Must be a quick learner with proficiency in new technology.
- Video Production: Can quickly capture and edit videos on the go, producing timely and compelling content.
- Creative: Able to develop interesting, engaging, and out-of-the-box digital content, bringing life and personality to the NYSUT President’s online voice and presence.
- Confidential: Willing and able to maintain complete discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Extremely Flexible Schedule: Comfortable with regular travel and weekend work, based on the NYSUT President’s schedule (you could be at a conference one day and school visit the next). Note: This is not your typical 9am-to-5pm job.
- Strategic Thinking: Able to develop smart plans and systems that align with NYSUT’s strategy and vision for national impact.
- Collaborative Spirit: Work closely with key staff and stakeholders.
- Values-Driven: Cares about key advocacy issues and is excited to support and contribute to the work. Experience in labor and/or educational issues preferred.
- Driving Skills: Possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record, as travel will be a significant aspect of the role.
