We are seeking a Social/Content Strategist responsible for pinpointing audience, content, and conversation insights. This role involves crafting platform-specific and comprehensive social strategies, spotting social channel and behavioral trends, and laying the strategic groundwork for innovative, social-centric ideas.

The ideal candidate will thrive as a self-starter, possess a curious mindset, excel in collaboration with the creative team, and demonstrate expertise in developing social strategies that address clients’ business objectives while fostering imaginative thinking.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Content Planning

  • Contribute to overall digital content strategy, communication planning, and scoping of content deliverables, aligned with overarching strategy for paid and organic content.
  • Conduct brand audits, competitive landscape analyses, and market research to identify insights, white space, and opportunities for brand’s social channels.
  • Remain plugged into culture and up-to-date social media trends with an understanding of how to translate these into owned content that drives organic reach and engagement.
  • Develop monthly organic content calendars.
  • Research trends, seasonal content, etc. for monthly refreshes.
  • Proactively identify and propose creative ideas/tactics that could help drive performance across existing channels.
  • Help define how content supports product launches.
  • Work closely with Media on paid strategy/marketing mix alignment.
  • Develop creative/project briefs to guide content development and work with Account, Brand Strategy and Media to clarify/crystalize client creative briefs.

Ideation & Creative Presentations

  • Spark creative thinking by sharing relevant creative work or ideas as inspiration for our existing/potential client work.
  • Act as a key player in creative brainstorms and participate in ongoing ideation sessions to keep content fresh and timely.
  • Guide strategically informed creative ideas, content topics, and visual concepts together with the design/content team and help present creative concepts.

Governance & Platform Best Practices

  • Lead development and maintenance of playbooks that align with branding and business goals, as well as best practices for amplification of content across various channels.
  • Coordinate BBDO network resources and platforms to ensure ongoing education around platform trends and best practices.

Content Optimization

  • Ensure that content assets are conversion oriented with strong calls-to-action and actionable KPIs.
  • Coordinate with BBDO MW Media team on performance metrics for continual optimization and iterative refinement of content.

Professional Requirements and Competencies:

  • Proficient social listening skills (via social listening tools and in-platform), including forums like Reddit, Facebook Groups, Tumblr, and Discord.
  • Ability to analyze data and synthesize key insights, takeaways, and recommendations for internal and client teams.
  • Deep knowledge of social content and platform capabilities (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn)
  • Up to date on emerging and new platforms
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks while working independently.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, both to external clients and internal teams/stakeholders.
  • Collaborative “team-player” who can adapt to frequent change and works well under pressure
  • Upbeat and positive attitude with a “get it done” mentality.
  • Working knowledge of Mac OS, Microsoft Office Suite

 Required Education and Experience:

  • 2-4 years industry experience (building content platforms for bigger brands a plus)
  • Agency experience preferred

Hybrid Position

We have a hybrid office schedule, requiring a minimum of 3 days a week in our downtown Minneapolis office.  Days to be coordinated with your team.
