2016 NISM Social Media Job Report
In 2016, the National Institute for Social Media conducted a job study to answer key questions associated with the role of the social media strategist in the workplace. The goal of the study was to produce critical information about the primary responsibilities of social media strategists in a variety of work settings across the United States.
This information collected here, and in previous studies, is used to shape the direction of the Social Media Strategist (SMS) certification exam.
What’s included in the Job Study
Modeled loosely after the information found on the Bureau of Labor Statistics website, professionals engaging in social media can find the following information:
- A brief history of marketing and social media
- The online job survey details (process, questions, results, etc.)
- Analysis and comparison of data in key areas such as pay and education
The goal of the 2016 NISM Job Study is to provide readers with multiple views of today’s social media job market that will support the continued evolution of social media marketing as a critical element for any business.
