The Communications Generalist provides operational and administrative support to the Communications team, ensuring consistent execution of daily tasks and contributing to the team’s overall effectiveness. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, eager to learn, proactive, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a support role. This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in communications, marketing, design, and photography while working in support of the entire organization.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides general operational, administrative, logistical support to the Communications team and Public Affairs, including assisting with travel arrangements, processing departmental requests, and coordinating material distribution.
  • Assists with the maintenance of   Assists with proofreading content and fact-checking information before publication, and distributing brand assets for internal and external use.
  • Assists with scheduling and coordinating photography for events, staff headshots, and promotional materials. May serve as the assistant photographer during large organizational events, providing additional coverage and perspectives.
  • Supports internal and external communication efforts, ensuring consistency across platforms.
  • Helps organize and maintain internal and external communication platforms and ensures team resources, including photo libraries, project files, archived materials and templates, are organized and accessible.
  • Prepares materials and provides logistical support for Communications-supported events.
  • Assists with the timely distribution of materials and supplies to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supports cross-departmental initiatives by assisting with gathering necessary materials, and ensuring communications are consistent, accurate, and valuable.
  • Works collaboratively with Communications team members and other KANA staff to execute assigned tasks.
  • Supports team projects by completing short-turnaround and streamlined project requests, cross-training in areas such as social media website management and basic design tasks.
  • Acts as a key support resource for the department, handling detail-oriented assignments that contribute to larger communications and marketing efforts.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license and personal transportation. Proficiency in basic office tools such as Microsoft Office. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Positive attitude, willingness to learn, ability to follow instructions. Capable of taking direction and retaining knowledge of repetitive tasks. Self-starter with an interest in gaining knowledge of communications, marketing, photography, content creation, and design. Familiarity with Canva and social media platforms is preferred.
